I also lived on 11th. Street between B and C for a while. I went to the Boy’s club on 10th. Street, and Ave A. when I was a kid. Look at my old pix and see if it rings a bell. Ave B and East 10th St....Sids Candy Store. I was raised in 311 East 10th St. Practically lived in the Boy's Club. I went to Seward Park HS. Went on to the NYPD. Favorite stickball streets where East 2nd by the Cardinal Spellman CYO Center, and 4th Ave on the West Side of the old Cooper Union College building. Both very wide streets.

I grew up on Avenue B between 3rd and 4th, went to Most Holy Redeemer on 4th Street, used to go to Hy and Lil's for an egg cream after school. A highlight of block life was when a customer at Margaret's Specialty shop across the street tried to return an item and Margaret wouldn't do it. Push would come to shove and they'd take the fight outside. Good times. Before 71 was built, there were a bunch of tenements, and one big women's clothing store. After the block was condemned, my oldest brother snuck in the clothing store with a friend, took the clothes off some mannequins, and put them in the store window in compromising positions. The Mirror ran a photo on the front page.

Good times.

New York Street games has 763 people and only 3 from The Lower East Side, I can't believe that all the rest are locked up.

Hi - I lived on the Lower East Side on 7th and Ave. D in the projects from about '49 until about '55 when we moved to Sheepshead Bay. Don't remember the school's number but I do remember going to Boy's Club. Also remember the rock fights we used to have and snow/ice balls with a rock at the center for the snowball fights in winter. Also remember playing stickball, spud, and so many other games. Great memories.

Steve
