New York Street Games - The Movie

"It" would turn their back and say that, and everyone tried to run and get closest before It turned around. If you weren't frozen when they turned around and saw you, you were out. The winner was the one who got to tag It. This was a great sidewalk game, when the street was too busy.

This, along with Red Rover, I Declare a War, & Johnny on the Pony were some of our more common street games.

In Red Light Green Light 123 sometimes we would laugh and lose our balance. Of course we would have to start all over in the back. Yes, Red Rover, Johnny on a Pony, I Declare War we definitely played in front of our building. When we wanted to kick it up a notch, we would use the building's back way to hide a belt for a game called "Hot Peas & Butter" (Come and Get Your Supper!) Lord help you if the kid next to you found the belt before you did. You would plea for mercy as everyone else ran away.

Tony I loved that game. I did a lot of hitting, but was too fast to get caught. LOL
