In St. Louis we play a form of stickball called corkball that's been played here since the early 1900s (my dad, who fought in WWII, played it when he was a kid). The rules are a little different (and we use a different type of ball) but it's a lot of fun and there are quite a few corkball clubs (leagues) that play at two separate parks that actually have real corkball fields. Last year I started a recreational corkball club called River City Corkball Club that plays games once a week at Tower Grove Park on the city's south side. I also set up a Ning network similar to this one called The Corkball Network for people interested in playing corkball all over the world (including Alaska!). We also have a lot of people that play fuzzball (which I believe would be closest to what you guys in NYC play from what I understand).
